Recently concluded ASEAN Autism Network Executive Commite meeting. After the accreditation, a new AAN Secretariat office will be located at the London School Centre for Autism Awareness (LSCAA), Jakarta, Indonesia and APCD will hand over secretariat jobs to the new Secretariat.

 

 

APCD will continue as partner with AAN to facilitate autism-related family support groups in collaboration with other stakeholders in the ASEAN region. Wishing AAN all the success for an inclusive, rights-based and autism-friendly ASEAN community towards a sustainable and self-reliant Network”.

Representatives from APCD and ASEAN Autism Network joined “First ASEAN Web Forum on Disability-Inclusion and COVID-19: Engaging Persons with Disabilities for Effective Response and Recovery” on 27 August 2020 via Zoom and Facebook Live Platform

 

APCD staff of the Community Development Department (CDD) participated in the first forum of a Webinar series jointly organized by the ASEAN Disability Forum and the ASEAN Secretariat.

 

Dr. Sita Sumrit, Assistant Director (ADR) and Head of Poverty Eradication and Gender Division, Human Development Directorate, ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Department shared objectives of the webinar.

 

Dr. Srinivas Tata, Director, Social Development Division of UNESCAP, mentioned future collaboration with APCD on developing a Training of Trainers (TOT) manual on Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR) through a regional training in ASEAN during the Forum.

 

More than 75 participants in a Zoom platform and Live Channel, including AAN Representatives, Dr. Adriana Ginanjar, Chairperson and Mr. Dennis Ang, Chairperson of Fund Raising and Sponsorship Committee via a Zoom Platform, and Mrs. Erlinda ‘Dang’ Uy Koe, Honorary Chairperson via Facebook Live Channel.

APCD shared the experience of hosting the first AAN Congress 2010 in Bangkok with AAN Executive Committee Members.

During agenda of other matters, Mr. Watcharapol Chuengcharoen, Chief of Networking and Collaboration, updated information about a donation of reusable masks to the entities associated with ASEAN of which AAN is on the distribution list.

Dr. Sawae Yukinori, representative from Autism Society of Japan / Associated member of AAN, shared experiences from Japan on project involvement with persons with special needs during COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Ms. Aiko Akiyama, Representative from SDD-UNESCAP, encouraged AAN country members to exchange good practices on keeping children with special needs safe from COVID-19, and congratulated AAN on 10th anniversary achievements.

Background of AAN was presented by Mr. Dennis Aung, Chairperson of Fund Raising and Sponsorship Committee from Singapore, on exchanging on AAN’s 10th anniversary.

 

The main contents consist of 10th AAN anniversary, the formal as entity association with ASEAN official handover ceremony of AAN secretariat from Thailand to Indonesia, chairmanship handover ceremony to AAN country member in Malaysia, AAN forward to next decade and empowering Autism community in ASEAN to cope with COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Handover 26 boxes of 800pcs facemask (December 30 2020) 

 

 

ASEAN Autism Network Secretariat received 26 boxes of 800pcs total of 28,800 washable face mask from ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance (AHA Centre) AAN Secretariat first CSR project, these mask is now being distributed to Autism Communities in Indonesia, through the help of London School Cares for Autism Awareness.
