During the 13th LSPR's Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, July 1 2004, at Jakarta Media Centre, Gedung Dewan Pers, Jakarta, , the Director of STIKOM LSPR Jakarta Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, AMIPR (UK) inaugurated LSPR Research Centre for Excellence.The objective of establishing the Research Centre is amongst other things to pursue in-depth research for the interest of STIKOM LSPR in terms of curriculum design, preparation of instructional materials for the lecturers as well as other research for our students.
Further more, the Research Centre for Excellence is to conduct research in communication science, in particular for Public Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing and Advertising, and will expand soon by collaborating with National & International Institutions/Universities so that we can apply the result of the research to both the Indonesian & International study and work places.
The Research Centre is divided into:
* Research Centre for the Master's Degree Programme * Research Centre for the Undergraduate Programme

Vision: The LSPR’s Centre of Excellence in Public Relations – Research Centre is aimed to generate knowledge for both the academic community and the industry.
Mission: - To generate knowledge in the field of communication. - To foster research culture in LSPR. - To foster critical thinking in LSPR. - To foster innovative thinking in LSPR. - To foster links between LSPR and other institutions in communication research. - To produce research work in the Public Relations and Communication Field in general, which benefit society and institutions in Indonesia, the religion and the world.

Ari S Widodo Poespodihardjo is among few scholars in Indonesia that specialize in Indonesian media. Earning both Master and Doctorate in Journalism (University of Wollongong – Australia), Ari has keen interest in the development of the Media particularly in Indonesia. Prior joining LSPR, he was a print media journalist that specialize in general news, technology, cultures and arts. His works has been published in Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.
His current research interests are: - Media (mainly print). - Media ethics. - Photojournalism. - Technology and Media. - Sociology of the Mass Media (based on Social Construction of Reality). - Historical research. - Mediation.
His current research projects are: - Media analysis (new combine method of media analysis). - Indonesian politics as represented from newspaper cartoon/comics. - Photojournalism. - Comparative media studies.
He is currently advising research on: - Media rating and television production. - Sociological analysis of Indonesian Celebrity. - Perception and action. - Social construction of Reality.
